Not every idea deserves a place on the roadmap. Idea Prioritization helps you separate quick wins from ideas that could genuinely change what customers expect and are hard for competitors to copy.

Idea Prioritization helps you move from collecting ideas to deciding on them. Every idea is placed on two dimensions: how much impact it creates (for the customer and for the business) and how feasible and defensible it is. The goal isn't to reward what's easy to build or to chase big claims with no clear path to execution. It's to find the one or two ideas that are both worth doing and hard for others to copy.

Wie funktioniert diese Methode?

The canvas plots ideas on two axes.

The vertical axis is Impact: how much this idea changes for the customer and what it gives the business, ranging from medium to high.

The horizontal axis has three zones.
"Now" covers ideas that are feasible for you today, but just as easy for competitors to copy.
"How" covers ideas with real potential, where feasibility still needs to be worked out.
"Wow" covers ideas that are feasible for you and hard for others to follow aka the sweet spot of impact and defensibility.

Placing every idea on this grid turns a long list into a small and strong shortlist.

Schritt-für-Schritt Anleitung

1

List every idea you're considering, without filtering yet.

2

Position each idea on the Impact axis first. Ask: how much would this change for the customer and what would it give us? Place higher-impact ideas further up, regardless of how easy they'd be to build.

3

Now sort left to right. For each idea, ask: can we actually do this, and how easily could someone else copy it? Move easy-but-copyable ideas toward Now, promising-but-unproven ideas toward How, and ideas that are both feasible and hard to replicate toward Wow.

4

Look for the cluster in the top right. Ideas that land as high-impact and Wow are your strongest candidates: feasible for you, hard for others and meaningful for the customer.

5

Narrow to 1-2 ideas. Resist the pull to move forward with everything that scored well. Pick the ideas that best meet future customer expectations, not the ones that were easiest to place.

6

Check the "Now" ideas. If something landed there, ask whether it's still worth doing as a quick win or whether it will get copied before it creates real advantage.
