Idea Napkin

With the help of the Idea Napkin, individual ideas can be recorded as a rough concept and contribute to a common understanding of the idea within a group. The Idea Napkin creates a basis for discussion for the further development of the idea.
how does the method work?
The core idea of the Idea Napkin is to summarise ideas in as limited a space as possible. This supports the participants in specifying individual ideas and challenges them to summarize the essence of the idea as precisely as possible. Within a group, the method enables a common understanding of their idea to be achieved and recorded. Through a structured process, it encourages a more detailed examination of the idea and allows the idea to be enriched with further details. An Idea Napkin summarises one idea at a time. The method is particularly suitable after an ideation session in which participants have collected many ideas together. The method can be used in small groups as well as alone. After an ideation session, several Idea Napkins can be created for several ideas, as the method also helps to evaluate ideas and compare different ideas.
Step by Step Guide
Start by selecting the target group.
Under "Problem", specify the user problem that the idea aims to solve. Rate the importance of the problem and its solution for the user on a scale of 1 to 4 under the problem statement. Note: If you started with the idea instead of the user problem, try to focus on the underlying user problem here. Ask yourself whether your idea actually solves a user problem.
Under "Solution", specify your concrete idea for solving the user problem. Make sure that you include how your idea can be implemented (tools, methods) as well as the context in which the user is located and which touchpoints you have with the user. Estimate the effort required to implement the idea on a scale of 1 to 4 under the solution statement.
Under "Benefits", specify the extent to which you and/or your organization can achieve added value from your solution. Rate the positive effect that your solution can have on you and/or your organization on a scale of 1 to 4 under the benefit statement.
Complete your Idea Napkin with an elevator pitch for your solution. Try to summarize the essence of your solution as precisely as possible and use your elevator pitch to generate interest in your solution among others.
You can also start with the elevator pitch. In this case, it helps to look at the elevator pitch again after completing the idea napkin and thus dealing with the idea and to reflect on whether adjustments are necessary.
